Massachusetts Synagogues: An historical map, 1840-2012
This map focuses on the presence of the Jewish community
in MA, which reflects historical immigration and settlement
patterns. It shows the names, locations, founding dates, and—when known—founding congregations of MA synagogues.
In cases where multiple synagogues (and mergers) have occupied the
same address over the years, generally only the earliest date is given.
Some historical synagogues in the database had no street address and therefore could not be added to the map.
